Introduction: Retro Times is a completely free Internet publication for mid 20th Century glamour, celebrating feminine beauty and allure from days gone by (with just a hint of naughtiness). The site offers top quality images, mainly from 1930 to the 1970s, a time when men were lucky enough to be treated to the sight of ladies in some exotic finery—the main focus being on the Nylon stockinged legs and accompanying delights that were prevalent during the period.
The WebMaster of RetroTimes restores damaged or poor quality Vintage glamour pics for a hobby. He then posts them on the site to share them with the viewers. This web site, therefore, contains quality rather than quantity and images will be added when the owner has been able to restore them to the desired quality.

Why Vintage Glamour or pin-Ups?

Like many red-blooded males, I enjoy the sight of a lovely girl and a nice pair of legs. I think we are all conditioned a little by our childhoods and adolescent years; hence my fascination for the mid 20th century period. I was born in 1957 and was therefore 'developing' during the sixties and early seventies. Many are my memories, as a youth, of up skirts glimpses of sheer nylons held in place by taught suspenders/garters with gleaming clips and clasps. Skirts and petticoats with nylon covered legs descending to feet perched on heels were sights to behold.

Sadly, just as I grew old enough to realise the true erotic appeal of such things, they promptly disappeared—female fashions changed dramatically with the advent of shorter skirts and tights/pantyhose. While this was good in some ways for the 'leg man', some things were lost. Since then I have had a soft spot for the mid-20th Century period.

For quite some years after the 'Revolution', one could always see pics of bygone lovelies in magazines etc, but even these eventually disappeared, leaving the retro connoisseur searching old book shops. This situation continued for some time, but then along came the Internet and a whole new world of opportunity opened up.
Since then I have been avidly collecting pics from the period and have now amassed quite a large collection via newsgroups and other great resources. As time has progressed, my areas of interest in the field have widened; there are so many great images covering all aspects of female retro glamour, and RetroTimes will reflect this.

While perusing my sizeable collection, I noticed that a lot of the pics were generally poor quality. I therefore took it upon myself to see what I could do to improve or restore damaged images—I have always loved messing about with computers, especially art and design software, so I set to work and the results were quite pleasing. (More info and methods are available on the Image Restoration page). From there I have slowly built up a collection of quality images, restoring any that needed it. I then decided that others might like to see my efforts and appreciate some good quality images of vintage 'glamour' gals, so the idea for this web site was born.

Site maintenance:

I am always amazed, even now, by the number of sites that are badly designed, layed out or maintained. Dead links, bad design and lack of care or forethought often leads to a promising site being a let down. While I am no expert, I am reasonably proficient in web design/publishing and always make sure that links work and that pages look good and load reasonably quickly.

In Conclusion; the aims of this site are threefold:

1. To provide access to my image collection of top quality and restored vintage glamour pics, simply because I thought that interested persons might like to see.

2. To offer a quantity of images for free, now and always.

3. To maintain the site in a reasonable manner to make the experience a pleasurable one for the viewer. I check regularly to ensure that all page, image and external links are working as they should.
